Despite being common, the Common Bulbul is surprisingly easy to overlook. It is not a particularly large bird. You may hear its calls repeatedly from a nearby tree or thick shrub without immediately seeing the bird responsible. Once you learn to associate the sound with the Common Bulbul, however, it becomes much easier to notice it during everyday birding.

To understand why the words "buzzard" and "vulture" are constantly tangled up, you have to look back centuries. The confusion is not a biological error; it is a linguistic inheritance. When early European settlers first arrived in North America, they encountered massive, dark birds of prey soaring over the landscape.

A bird feeder can transform any garden into a haven for wildlife, but attracting birds takes more than simply filling it with seed. The location, feeder design, and even nearby water can make all the difference.
